An approach to student-initiated education at UdK Berlin - N A C H S C H L A G

This November, students at University of the Arts Berlin (namely Inga Langkay & Karolina Leczkowski) organized the debut of "Nachschlag" (the german word for refill) –a series of lectures and workshops for students as the extra portion, the icing on the cake of the university education.

The aim was to provide willing students with unique approaches and personal positions in design from highly-acknowledged professionals working in different fields of art and design, traditional or experimental, applied or in theory, 2- and 3-dimensional or time-based.

The event spread over the whole month of November and offered 3 workshops by Eike König from HORT, NODE Berlin Oslo and Siggi Eggertson and numerous Lectures by Lars Hamsen from Slanted, Manuel Raeder, Pfadfinderei, Siggi Eggertson, NODE, Guido Heffels, Eike König and Erik Spiekermann.

The workshops cost 20€, offered about 20 spots, lasted 2 whole days and were fully booked out in very few days. The Lectures were free of charge and always filled to the last seat. Both, the lectures and the workshops were open for everybody, not only students at UdK Berlin and drew students from all across germany.

Everything took place at UdK berlin, faculty for transmedial design, and was organized & only by students.
